58-year-old woman welcomes twins after 24 years, says husband refused her suggestion of second wife

Pastor Funmilola Abraham, a 58-year-old Nigerian woman, has given birth to twins after 24 years of waiting, crediting her unwavering faith and her husband’s steadfast support for the miracle.
In an emotional interview with The Punch, Pastor Abraham—who serves as a Regional Overseer with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries—recalled the long journey of medical challenges, failed IVF attempts, and deep emotional struggles.
“I got married on March 31, 2001, and gave birth at 57,” she shared. “Back in 2002, I had fibroid surgery, and doctors assured me everything was fine. My husband also underwent medical tests, and everything looked normal, yet there was no breakthrough.”
Despite facing pressure and personal sorrow, her husband remained committed.
“At one point, I told him to go to the village to take another wife, like Sarah did with Hagar, but he firmly refused, saying, ‘Didn’t I see the village before I married you? I’m not going anywhere.’”
After multiple IVF failures—including a heartbreaking loss of triplets five months into a pregnancy in 2019—Abraham said she turned her focus fully to her ministry. “I told God, ‘I’ve done all I can. I leave it to You.’”
She emphasised that her faith kept her going. “I found peace in knowing that nowhere in the Bible does it say a woman must have children to enter heaven,” she added.
Her breakthrough came around the 2023–2024 crossover night. While others celebrated, she was on her knees, crying out to God. Eventually, through a combination of prayers and treatment by a trusted matron, she conceived naturally.
A woman she was praying for for a child conceived, and returned to give her the good news, not knowing she was also trusting God for a child.
The woman told her about the matron who helped her.
She said she cautiously sought out the matron, stressing that she was always wary of going to recommended places lest she create another problem while trying to solve one.
The matron began work on her and prescribed some drugs to help her cycle.
Pastor Abraham said she slept with her husband after taking a particular drug recommended for ovulation. She said she actually felt like she was ready to conceive before sleeping with her man.
“Within two weeks, I started feeling changes. I knew something was happening,” she recalled.
Now a mother of twins at 58, Pastor Abraham says her constant prayer is for God to take care of her and her children in her old age.
