A joyous occasion turned into heartbreak on Saturday, June 14, 2025, as a groom-to-be and two of his friends lost their lives in a fatal car accident just an hour before his wedding ceremony in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The deceased groom, SP Mustapha Garba Gumau, a senior police officer, was reportedly on his way from Gumau to Magaman-Gumau for his wedding fatiha, scheduled for 10:00 am, when tragedy struck around 9:00 am at Bargan Tsamiya village.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle carrying the groom and his friends veered off the road and crashed.
Gumau, along with Shuaibu Umar and Sulaiman Musa, died instantly at the scene.
Other passengers in the vehicle reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
