Shock as woman reveals grandmother secretly had two husbands, 12 children in Ibadan and Kaduna

A Nigerian woman has gone viral on TikTok after revealing a jaw-dropping family secret about her late grandmother, who reportedly maintained two separate families in different regions of the country, without either of her husbands ever knowing.
According to her, the grandmother led a double life for decades, having six children each with two different men—one family based in Ibadan and the other in Kaduna.
Describing her grandmother as a seasoned trader whose business frequently took her across the country, the lady explained how the older woman’s constant travel made it easier to hide her dual identities.
“She’s the ultimate OG,” the granddaughter said in the viral TikTok video. “She had a full family in Ibadan, which includes my dad, and another set of six children in the North. None of us knew about the Kaduna family until she passed away this year.”
She added that her grandmother would spend long periods trading in the North during the 1980s, returning to Ibadan for months at a time, perfectly balancing both lives without arousing suspicion.
The granddaughter wrote: “We got to know when she passed on and we posted her obituary on Facebook, the other kids reached out to my father, who is her first child and asked if my grand mum was a twin, my dad said no and that was where everything bursted. Four of the kids traveled down to Ibadan and insisted they see her body and they came with pictures and videos evidences. My grandma died at 70 but she still goes to kaduna and back every now and then. Her alias was “Iya kaduna” here and “Iya ilu oke” in kaduna. It’s such a long story that I can’t even put all the details here. But believe it or not ten is happening. Her two husbands are still alive though.”
Social media users were stunned by the revelation, with many flooding the comments section to express disbelief and fascination over the woman’s ability to keep such a massive secret hidden for decades.
When someone commented that it was not possible to have 12 children for two men without either of the men knowing, a commenter claimed the late woman was a neighbour of her mother.
She further claimed the late woman dealt in dried meat and spent months and years up north before returning to spend some time in Ibadan.
Another person opined that such things could only happen in a polygamous set-up where the two husbands had multiple wives as well, a situation that would make them less dependent or focused on any of their wives.
