The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has declared a three-day nationwide prayer and fasting programme to seek divine intervention for national protection and improved food security.

According to an internal circular dated June 11, 2025, and signed by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., all ministry staff — including directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, value chain desk officers, and others — are mandated to participate in the spiritual exercise.

Themed “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development,” the prayer sessions are scheduled to take place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, June 16, 23, and 30, 2025.

Mrs. Modupe stated that the purpose of the prayers is to invoke God’s guidance and support for the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure a stable and sustainable food system across the country amid rising agricultural challenges.

The circular urged all staff members to attend the sessions in a fasting state, signifying a spiritual appeal for solutions to the growing concerns around food insecurity and national development.

“This is to invite all staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to a solemn prayer session for God’s guidance and success in supporting the government’s efforts to achieve food security. Please kindly come fasting on Mondays 16th, 23rd and 30th June, 2025,” the memo read.

The directive has since sparked conversations about the role of spirituality in addressing national policy challenges, particularly within the agricultural sector.
