Osun Amotekun Provost Sheriff Ogundiran slumps, d!es while preparing for duty

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of its senior operatives, Sheriff Ogundiran, who collapsed at home on Thursday morning while preparing for duty and was later confirmed dead.

Confirming the incident, the Corps’ spokesperson Yusuf Idowu told Punch that Ogundiran, who served as Provost of the B Division at the Ila-Orangun Command, fell ill unexpectedly and could not be revived.

His death has been described as a significant loss to both the security outfit and the wider community in Osun State.

In a condolence message released in Osogbo, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, extended sympathies to Ogundiran’s family, friends, colleagues, and the Ila-Orangun community.

“Sheriff Ogundiran was more than just an operative; he was a pillar of our operational command structure and a proud son of Osun who served with unwavering dedication to the security of our people,” said Omoyele.

He described the deceased as a disciplined, loyal, and tireless officer whose commitment to duty was unmatched.

“His sudden death is not only shocking but a painful and irreplaceable loss… His legacy will forever be etched in the history of the Osun Amotekun Corps.”

Ogundiran was praised for his bravery, professionalism, and significant role in maintaining peace and order in Ila-Orangun and its environs.

Commander Omoyele also reaffirmed the corps’ pledge to honour the memory of fallen operatives by upholding the values they lived by.

He assured that the late officer’s family would receive appropriate support in the wake of the loss.
