Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has waded into the ongoing dispute between Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace, following a controversial confrontation at Lagos Airport last Wednesday.
In a statement released on Friday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Keyamo revealed that he had spoken directly with both parties involved and had instructed aviation agencies to proceed with caution and avoid premature conclusions.
“I have directed all aviation agencies to exercise restraint and adhere to the principle of hearing all sides before drawing conclusions,” Keyamo wrote.
With tensions rising from public, the minister appealed for calm and urged both the senator and the airline to stop issuing further allegations pending a formal review.
He further ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter, directing relevant aviation bodies to gather all available evidence and report to his office.
“This matter will be handled thoroughly and decisively. The outcome will help guide future conduct in similar situations,” he added.
The clash began after Senator Oshiomhole allegedly missed a flight, claiming it was due to racketeering by airline officials, whom he accused of demanding bribes from passengers.
Air Peace, however, denied wrongdoing, stating that Oshiomhole arrived late at the boarding gate.
The senator contested that, saying he and 20 to 30 other passengers were left behind despite arriving on time, while those who arrived later were cleared—allegedly after paying an additional N109,100 to secure seats on a later 8:30 a.m. flight.
