Senator Adams Oshiomhole reportedly caused major disruption at the Zulu Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport 1 in Lagos, after missing his early morning flight to Abuja today, Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
According to credible sources, the former Edo State governor and current senator for Edo North arrived at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) after the 6:30 am departure time for his Air Peace flight.
Rather than accept the missed flight, Oshiomhole allegedly blocked the entrance to the Zulu Terminal, causing significant delays and leaving passengers stranded.
Eyewitnesses said the senator refused to leave the terminal entrance despite repeated pleas from the terminal manager and other airport officials.
The situation escalated, prompting the intervention of the regional airport manager and the convening of an emergency management meeting to calm tensions and resume normal operations.
“He missed the flight. That’s the simple truth,” a source said. “But instead of leaving, he blocked the terminal. Airline staff were pleading with him to de-escalate the situation.”
Air Peace reportedly declined to accommodate Oshiomhole, citing the airline’s strict policy on punctuality and check-in procedures.
The Zulu Terminal, which handles domestic flights to several Nigerian cities, was shut down for a period, disrupting operations and frustrating passengers. Witnesses described the incident as chaotic and embarrassing for airport personnel.
Efforts by reporters to reach key stakeholders—including Air Peace spokesperson Dr. Ejike Ndiulo and Regional Airport Manager Mr. Olatokunbo Arewa—were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.
The General Manager of Public Affairs for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ijeoma Blessing Nwosu-Igbo, stated she was unaware of the incident, noting that MM2 is privately owned and outside FAAN’s jurisdiction.
The Zulu Terminal recently underwent a N2.2 billion upgrade, expanding its passenger capacity significantly.
