Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has dismissed speculations of a fallout between him and President Bola Tinubu, insisting their relationship remains solid and deeply respectful.
Online rumours of a rift intensified following an incident during the inauguration of Phase 1 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on Saturday, May 31.
In a video shared by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, President Tinubu was seen arriving at the event and greeting several dignitaries — including Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Bassey Otu (Cross River) — but appeared to pass by Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was waiting to welcome him.
The moment sparked speculation online, with many interpreting it as a deliberate snub, suggesting tensions between the President and the Lagos State Governor.
However, during a visit to President Tinubu alongside members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Advisory Council in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu addressed the controversy.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, he dismissed any suggestion of discord.
“There is no rift. He is my father, he is my leader,” Sanwo-Olu said, reaffirming the strength of their relationship and brushing aside the speculation as unfounded.
