A Nigerian man has publicly criticized staff at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Abuja for allegedly refusing to assist an accident victim he rushed to the hospital, citing negligence and lack of empathy.
In a video circulating online, the man narrated how he found the victim bleeding from a head injury and immediately transported him to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital.
Upon arrival, he claimed that a female staff member asked him to help move the injured person from his car into a wheelchair.
The man refused, arguing that the hospital should have a designated team trained and equipped to handle such situations.
In response, the nurse reportedly told him that the staff member responsible for such tasks, identified only as Elijah, was unavailable.
She also said she couldn’t help because she had no gloves to safely handle the patient.
Frustrated by the hospital’s response, the man recorded the scene and vowed to make the video viral so the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, could see the alleged lack of basic resources and personnel at the facility.
The video has since sparked widespread debate on social media.
While some users defended the nurse, pointing out that it’s unsafe and against protocol to handle patients without protective gear, others expressed concern over what they perceived as a lack of urgency and compassion from medical professionals.
