American media personality, Brittany Renner, has revealed that she and rapper Kevin Gates are officially divorced, ending their marriage just 52 days after tying the knot.
In an interview with DJ Bootleg Kev on Los Angeles radio station REAL 92.3, the Basketball Wives star disclosed that the couple got married on April 6 but separated by May 28.
Renner, who identifies as a devout Muslim, noted that she is currently observing a 90-day reconciliation period in accordance with Islamic tradition to reflect on whether the relationship is worth restoring.
“I followed my heart, and that’s more than what most people can say in this world,” the 33-year-old said, expressing that she holds no regrets over the brief marriage.
She added that the experience has helped her reconnect with herself:
“The divorce wasn’t planned… but I don’t feel like it’s a sucky situation because what is meant to be is always going to be. I gave 100 percent [in the marriage]. All is well.”
Kevin Gates has not yet made any public comment regarding the separation.
