Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock has broken his silence following a viral video that surfaced online showing him confronting a content creator while holding an object many believed to be a firearm.

The footage, which trended on Friday, June 6, captured the clergyman being recorded in traffic by a content creator.

In the video, Pastor Adefarasin was seen rolling down his window to confront the individual while holding an item in his hand.

Online viewers quickly speculated that it was a handgun, sparking outrage over why a religious leader would appear to threaten an unarmed civilian.

In response to the controversy, Pastor Adefarasin addressed his congregation during church service on Sunday, June 8.

He described the incident as a targeted attempt at generating profit through sensationalism.

“This isn’t just an attack on a pastor or a local church,” he said. “It’s part of a larger scheme by the enemy. What we witnessed was clickbaiters simply looking to make more money. I probably wasn’t even the target—they were just after views and income.”

He firmly denied the allegation that he brandished a weapon, saying, “I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who came within close range. There was only about three-quarters of a meter and a glass window between us. I don’t own a gun license, I don’t carry a firearm, and I didn’t point one at anyone.”

He added that the situation reflects the spiritual battles faced by leaders, emphasizing that the love of money is often the root of malicious intent.

Adefarasin concluded his statement by reaffirming his innocence and condemning the spread of false narratives online.
