A Nigerian woman has taken to TikTok to share a harrowing account of alleged sexual harassment by her elderly neighbour during a recent power outage.
According to the woman, she had always maintained a respectful rapport with the man, frequently exchanging casual greetings.
However, the tone changed drastically one night when she returned home around 10 p.m. after stepping out to charge her devices.
Narrating her ordeal in the viral video, she said:
“Two nights ago, we had no power. I went out to charge my phone and came back late. As I was unlocking my door, my elderly neighbour, who I suspect had been waiting for me, suddenly appeared. We spoke briefly, but then he touched my shoulder and came closer, begging to sleep in my room.”
She further stated that as she opened the door to her apartment, the man grabbed the door handle, prompting her to plead with him to leave.
Sharing the video to raise awareness, she warned other young women living alone:
“If you’re a young lady going through life alone, don’t let anything happen to you. People will still blame you.”
