Controversial UK-based Nigerian pastor and founder of the defunct SPAC Nation, Tobi Adegboyega, has disclosed he is undergoing treatment for cancer, following a recent major surgery.
In a pre-recorded sermon broadcast to members of his new congregation, The Nxtion Family, on Thursday, Adegboyega revealed his diagnosis and ongoing health struggle.
“I was diagnosed with cancer. Yes, you heard me right,” he said. “I’ve been dealing with cancer for the past few months or even more. I just had a major surgery—that’s why I am not there today.”
Describing his recovery as a divine gift, the pastor said, “I have just fought the battle and I feel the verdict to continue to live was given to me by God for a new level, for a new stage.”
Adegboyega, widely known for his lavish lifestyle and unconventional approach to youth ministry, once drew massive attention in London’s evangelical circles for his outreach to troubled youths and his associations with celebrities, luxury fashion, and high-end vehicles.
Despite his popularity, he has faced significant controversy.
In 2022, SPAC Nation was shut down by UK authorities after a court ruling cited the church’s failure to adequately account for £1.87 million in expenses, raising concerns about financial mismanagement.
Adegboyega has since continued his ministry under a new banner while dealing with his current health challenge.
