Widow faces backlash after bedroom tape with new man leaks one week after her husband’s burial

A young widow is facing intense criticism and alleged ridicule from her in-laws and the public after a video surfaced showing her with another man just one week after her husband’s burial.
The video, which went viral via Crime Watch Zimbabwe, reportedly captured the widow in bed with a man inside her marital home.
It is not clear how the video was leaked to Crime Watch Zimbabwe, which posted it on its Telegram Channel, from where it went viral.
The footage sparked outrage among her late husband’s relatives and social media users, many of whom condemned her for moving on too soon.
The widow is accusing her in-laws of instigating public hostility against her after they confronted her for moving on so soon after their son’s death.
She said they accused her of dishonouring the deceased with her new relationship, just one week after her husband was laid to rest.
She claims they physically assaulted her during the altercation.
Defending her actions, the woman said she had been battling emotional and physical loneliness since her husband’s death and made a personal decision to seek comfort.
“They should have asked me how I was coping,” she reportedly said. When her in-laws suggested she should have spoken to them about her struggles, she sarcastically questioned if they expected her to seek comfort from them or even her late husband’s brothers.
Despite the criticism, the widow stood firm, asserting that her choice to start a new relationship was her own and that she had no regrets.
The incident has reignited debate about double standards in mourning practices.
In many traditional communities, widows are expected to observe a mourning period of up to a year and undergo cleansing rituals before entering new relationships.
In contrast, widowers often face significantly less scrutiny for dating or remarrying shortly after their spouse’s death.
