Suspended senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has strongly denied involvement in a viral video and audio clip claiming she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu to orchestrate her imprisonment.
In a statement personally signed and released in Abuja on Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the recordings as fake and misleading, describing them as a deliberate attempt to damage her reputation and destabilise the leadership of the National Assembly.
In the audio circulating widely, a voice purported to be that of Natasha can be heard begging a man to ‘craft’ a story, saying that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, blackmailed President Tinubu to agree to sacrifice her.
“That story has to come out’ the female voice can be heard saying.
Natasha has now stated unequivocally: “I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from this video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or hold any such conversation with a journalist or anyone else. The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan described the viral content as a “calculated attempt to mislead the public, damage my reputation, and stir division within the leadership of the National Assembly and the Federal Government,” labelling the act as a “dangerous abuse of technology.”
Reaffirming her commitment to truth and democratic values, the Kogi politician disclosed that her legal team and security agencies have been instructed to trace the source of the doctored materials and bring the perpetrators to justice.
She urged Nigerians to disregard the recordings, warning that they were part of a coordinated disinformation campaign designed to smear her image.
“I remain steadfast in my service to the people and urge Nigerians to remain vigilant against coordinated campaigns of disinformation and digital impersonation aimed at creating unnecessary political tension,” she said.
