Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has reaffirmed his controversial stance that fornication is not a sin, saying it aligns with his personal belief system, which he refers to as the “religion of love.”
Falz first stirred public debate when he posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “fornication isn’t a sin,” prompting strong reactions from both Christians and Muslims who cited religious doctrines in opposition.
In a recent interview on Arise TV, the artist clarified that his statement was not made from the standpoint of Christianity or Islam, but rather from his own spiritual ideology.
“I think people read the tweet and assumed I meant it in a Christian context. I wasn’t speaking from that perspective,” he said.
Falz went on to explain that his belief system does not condemn consensual sex between unmarried adults.
“In the religion of love, I don’t consider fornication a sin. If two unmarried people choose to be intimate willingly and consensually, I don’t see a problem. Who exactly is being offended?” he asked.
Perhaps the most revealing part of the interview was his announcement that he no longer identifies as a Christian.
“I’m no longer a Christian. I practice the religion of love,” he declared.
