Babcock University expels student declared missing by mother for alleged involvement in ‘Yahoo plus’

Babcock University, located in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, has expelled a student, Oladipupo Siwajuola, who was recently declared missing by his mother, following findings of drug peddling, use of fetish materials, and other serious misconduct.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the university’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Joshua Suleiman, confirmed that Siwajuola’s expulsion was in line with institutional policies and global best practices.
The incident began after Siwajuola’s mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo, took to Facebook on May 3 to raise an alarm about her son’s disappearance, accusing Babcock of negligence.
However, the university has now revealed that the student deliberately sneaked off campus in disguise, exiting through the Teaching Hospital gate without proper clearance.
Upon returning on May 15, Siwajuola was questioned by the university’s Department of Secret Service, where he confessed to multiple violations.
These included purchasing black soap from a herbalist for ritual purposes under a “Yahoo Yahoo Plus” scheme, drug peddling, taking a N500,000 online loan to support gambling, and impersonating another student to open a bank account.
He was also found to have sold his phone without authorisation, misleading the buyer by claiming his father’s consent.
Contrary to the mother’s claim that Siwajuola was found by his secondary school friends, the university clarified that it was actually the mother of his friend in Lagos who discovered him and contacted his family due to the viral social media posts.
Babcock found Siwajuola guilty of numerous offences, including unauthorised campus exit, involvement in fetish rituals, impersonation, drug trafficking, and dishonest conduct. As a result, the university decided to expel him to preserve the safety and moral integrity of its student community.
While the university criticised the mother’s “sensational and misleading” social media statements, it stated it would not pursue legal action due to the respectful behaviour of Siwajuola’s father.
“Our primary duty is to protect the well-being of every student under our care,” Suleiman added.
