A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking story of betrayal, revealing how she discovered her husband’s infidelity shortly after returning home from a three-week hospital stay following childbirth.

She was responding to a social media poser, ‘How did you find out your partner was cheating?’

Posting under the handle @Ryann_Agada on X (formerly Twitter), the woman recounted how a seemingly innocent visit from a guest exposed a long-hidden affair between her husband and the woman.

“It happened after I had my third baby,” she wrote. “I had stayed in the hospital for weeks due to complications. When we got home, visitors started coming to greet the baby.”

One of the visitors, a friend of her cousin, brought gifts for the baby and a beautiful dress for her.

The woman said the visitor claimed to have come out of concern after hearing she had been ill.

“My husband was out running errands when she arrived. When he came back and she said she was leaving, he stepped out with her casually,” she recalled.

However, her mother, who was stepping out around the same time, accidentally overheard their private conversation, uncovering a painful truth.

“My husband had an affair with her. They met around our wedding period and continued for almost a year,” she said. “He told her to relocate to Abuja, gave her money to start a business, and claimed to have ‘settled’ her when he ended things.”

The story took a tragic twist: the woman involved in the affair eventually got married but has since struggled with infertility.

A medical scan reportedly revealed she suffered uterine damage, which she linked to an abortion she had after getting pregnant for her husband.

“She travelled to Lagos to confront him after he ignored her calls,” @Ryann_Agada explained.

What hurt most, she said, was that her mother found out before she did. “I used to brag to my friends that my husband would never cheat. He was so shy. I was the one who made the first move.”

Despite the betrayal, she remains in the marriage, though filled with doubt and emotional turmoil.

“My mom wants me to stay for the children. She says it’s in men’s nature to cheat,” she wrote. “My husband insists it happened only once and promises it won’t happen again.”

Still, the pain lingers. “The fact that it happened at all, and I didn’t even suspect it, is what scares me the most. I’m 34. The idea of divorcing after almost eight years of marriage feels like a failure. I don’t know what to do.”

The post has sparked widespread conversation online, with many expressing sympathy while others urge her to prioritise her well-being and mental health.
