Chinedu Onwudebe, the husband of the Anambra woman featured in a viral video allegedly showing her in a compromising situation, has opened up about the troubled 24-year-old marriage, recounting a painful history of betrayal, domestic strife, and public disgrace.

Onwudebe claimed his wife introduced the man seen in the viral s3x tape to him as her cousin, and because he did not know all her cousins, he accepted him and treated him like an in-law.

Recall that a steamy video of the wife, Chinasa Odeka and her lover, Ichie Obiora, trended widely and led to a group of Anambra ‘Umunada’ coming together to stage a protest aimed at disgracing Chinasa.

The enraged women were, however, prevented from carrying out their action by the elders of Chinasa’s community.

The s3x video was reportedly leaked by one of Chinasa’s daughters with her husband.

Chinasa defended her action by accusing her husband of neglect and emotional and physical abuse.

She claimed that Onwudebe chased her into the arms of another man because he beat her to the extent she could not stand up and Ichie Obiora was the person who took her to the hospital.

Onwudebe has now offered his own side of the story in an interview.

Onwudebe, 59, said his wife, Chinasa, whom he married in Ogboji, Anambra State, brought more sorrow than joy into his life.

He admitted to beating her but claimed it was provoked by her repeated infidelity, most notably, her alleged affair with Ichie Obiora.

“I admired my wife because she was hardworking and beautiful. But her wayward lifestyle was the root of all our problems,” he said. “Back in 2020, I came home one day and found a man—Obiora—in our bedroom. She claimed he was her cousin, and I took her word for it.”

According to Onwudebe, Obiora gradually became a regular figure in their household, even buying phones for the children and promising to buy him a bus.

But suspicion grew when his children began sharing disturbing observations about their mother’s interactions with the man.

“I later realised that Obiora was having an affair with my wife—inside our home, and even in our bedroom,” he said.

“When I asked her to stay away from him, she refused. That was when things turned violent.”

Onwudebe claimed his wife eventually moved out to an apartment allegedly rented by Obiora. During a visit to retrieve his motorcycle, he said he was attacked by his wife and her lover.

“She came out half-naked and pushed me off the motorcycle, causing a serious knee injury. Obiora came out in boxers. As I struggled, my wife bit my hip, and Obiora knocked out one of my teeth. My daughter hit my ribs with a weapon, and I passed out.”

He also alleged that over the years, his wife had manipulated law enforcement against him, dragging him to at least three different police stations.

“She would falsely accuse me and have me locked up. But after I shared my side, I was released, and in one case, she was detained instead,” he added.

Onwudebe accused Chinasa of abducting their only son and using threats to shield her alleged lover, Ichie Obiora.

In a follow-up to his earlier account of the troubled 24-year marriage, Onwudebe said that for the past two years, he has neither seen nor heard from his son, an absence that nearly led him to believe the boy was dead.

“They took my only son away without my knowledge and permission. When I asked, they claimed they didn’t know where he was. It was only after I reported them and they were threatened that they confessed he had been sent off to learn a trade,” Onwudebe said.

Asked why he had never taken legal or physical action against Obiora, Onwudebe cited fear and manipulation. He said his wife painted Obiora as a dangerous man involved in vigilante operations with a violent reputation.

“She told me Obiora is a member of a vigilante group in Onitsha and capable of killing without hesitation. She also claimed he uses charms and can disappear and reappear at will. She warned me that he could frame and eliminate me if I crossed him,” Onwudebe recalled.

He lamented the damage the affair had caused his family, alleging that his wife not only refused to change but also influenced their daughters to adopt the same lifestyle.

“No reasonable man, after seeing how beautiful and hardworking my wife was, would want to beat her. But her waywardness pushed me to it. I thought she would change. I now know she won’t. She never admitted to being unfaithful—until that video clip exposed her.”

Onwudebe also denied any role in leaking the viral video. According to him, one of his daughters sent the clip to him privately and then forwarded it to another young man, who allegedly shared it publicly on social media.
