The Nigerian woman, 79, who was kicked out by her employer in Minnesota, United States of America is suffering from fluid retention symptomatic of kidney issues.
The American she was working for decided to kick her out of her house so that she would not have to bear the cost of taking care of her.
Unfortunately, all her children are here in Nigeria, and she was left stranded on the street until a Nigerian TikTok influencer, MC B of Minnesota, got involved and escalated her matter.
In a series of videos posted by the TikToker, the old woman explained that after her husband died, one of her in-laws helped her to travel abroad in 2022 so that she would not die of heartache.
She said all was well with her in Chicago until the person she was staying with decided to return to Nigeria because of a health challenge.
She then relocated to Minnesota, where she put up with someone called Olumide, also a Nigerian.
Olumide helped her to secure a nanny job with an American lady, and she was to be paid $850 per month.
Mama said the lady promised to increase the money to $1,100 by this June if she worked excellently.
She said she took care of three children for the American who left home 5 am and returned at 10 pm each day.
She did this for eight months but was not paid a cent for her services.
However, when her employer noticed that her stomach was swelling, she asked Mama to leave, saying that her condition would not allow her to perform her duties well.
The aged woman said she then asked for her salary so that she could at least purchase a ticket to come back to Nigeria, but the host refused to pay her.
When she refused to leave without being paid, Mama said the host called the police on her, but when they arrived and saw that she was aged and was owed money, they refused to eject her.
Mama said that after the police left, the American woman dragged her out with all her belongings, leaving her out in the cold.
Thankfully, a Nigerian saw her and was able to alert MC B to take up her case.
Through the awareness she created, Nigerians in Minnesota rose to assist the woman and initially arranged to move her into a shelter before Olumide, who helped her to secure employment, stepped forward to take her in.
She is currently with Olumide, while her case has been properly reported to the police for the recovery of the money owed her and maltreatment by the American lady.
About N1.4 million has also been contributed for her, according to MC B.
The biological children of the aged woman in Nigeria have also been contacted. One of them, named Ajuwon Ayodele, said they had established contact with her and would ensure she is well-treated going forward.
Meanwhile, many people who knew the woman when she resided in Ibadan have spoken up about her as a good person.
One person claimed to have been a tenant in her house in Ibadan.
