Ondo Vice Principal beaten up for foiling student’s cheating attempt at WASSCE
Student’s mum, others arrested

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested five individuals in connection with the brutal assault of Mr. Alexander Rotifa, Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College Aule, Akure.
Among those taken into custody is Mrs. Dorcas Asije, the mother of an SS3 student who was caught using an Android phone to cheat during the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to school authorities, Mr. Rotifa discovered the student attempting to cheat and confiscated his mobile phone.
The student then hurried home and informed his mother, who allegedly hired a group of thugs to attack the Vice Principal.
When the assailants arrived on campus, the school quickly alerted police officers who were on standby.
However, the hired men overpowered the officers, dragged Mr. Rotifa from his vehicle, and savagely beat him before fleeing the scene.
In a statement released on Monday, June 2, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Alayande, confirmed that Mrs. Asije and four accomplices have been arrested.
He explained that, acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, a tactical team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) moved swiftly to apprehend the suspects.
The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
Mr. Alayande urged the public to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious or criminal activity to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Ministry of Education has launched its own inquiry into the incident, vowing to ensure the safety of teachers and uphold the integrity of national examinations.
