A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning in Ibadan, Oyo State, when an unidentified man plunged from one of the upper floors of the iconic 26-storey Cocoa House.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying.
One witness said, “At first, I thought it was a large bird falling. It wasn’t until he hit the ground that I realised it was a person.”
Another bystander recounted that the victim first struck a rooftop near the security post before landing on the ground, calling it a terrifying experience.
The cause of the fall remains unknown, with ongoing investigations aiming to determine whether it was accidental, intentional, or linked to structural issues.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, the building’s managers, confirmed the incident and said emergency responders acted promptly.
The company’s Head of Branding and Communication, Victor Ayetoro, said the individual was immediately taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for urgent treatment.
The company emphasised its cooperation with authorities and reiterated its commitment to public safety. As of press time, the victim’s identity and condition have not been disclosed.
