Reality TV star, Queen Mercy Atang, has explained the reason behind unfollowing her husband on social media and deleting their wedding photos from her Instagram page.
It would be recalled that Atang and her husband, David Oyekanmi, tied the knot in March 2024.
However, in October 2024, Queen stirred public speculation after she unfollowed her husband on Instagram and deleted their wedding photos, prompting rumours of marital trouble.
Addressing the issue in a recent interview, Queen explained that the move was a deliberate attempt to take her marriage off social media.
“I was just trying to take my relationship off social media. Because my husband’s account is out there, a lot of girls feel the need to slide in his DM to say positive and negative things,” she said.
She added that her decision was influenced by other celebrities who choose to keep their spouses’ identities and personal lives private.
The unexpected move sparked widespread speculation about the state of her marriage.
The wild speculation continued until she eventually restored the deleted photos and reinstated her husband’s name in her Instagram bio.
She explained in the interview that her action of unfollowing her husband drew an unexpected reaction, and she had to retrace her steps quickly to douse the debilitating narratives being peddled online.
