Reality TV personality Hayley Vernon, who charged 600 Pounds Sterling (about N1.2m) per hour as a female escort, has announced that she has left her highly lucrative adult entertainment business behind after embracing Christianity and becoming “born again” in her faith.

Vernon, who rose to fame on season seven of Married At First Sight Australia, revealed that her spiritual transformation in 2024 led her to turn away from the adult content industry, despite earning over £1.1 million and briefly working as a £600-an-hour escort following her television fame.

Now 32 and living in Melbourne, the former finance broker marked her newfound faith with a baptism in a lake, which she shared on social media as a public declaration of her spiritual rebirth.

Citing Jeremiah 29:11, she wrote: “Yesterday I was born again in my faith, making a public declaration to the outside world based on the inward transformation I have experienced through finding Christ. My relationship with my faith has changed every aspect of my life.”

Vernon explained that her shift in values prompted her to part with the glamorous and provocative image she had once embraced.

She is now selling her expensive lingerie collection, calling it a symbolic break from her past.

“I used to think that lingerie and dressing a certain way would make me feel empowered. It didn’t—it did the opposite,” she said, noting the items are in clean, good condition.

On the MAFS Funny podcast, Vernon reflected on the emotional toll her former lifestyle took.

“You start acting so much and becoming this character that isn’t you, that you actually forget to be you… you just don’t have a firm foundation anymore,” she admitted.

Her faith journey follows a turbulent period in the public eye. During her time on MAFS, Vernon was involved in a headline-grabbing controversy when her on-screen partner, David Cannon, was shown scrubbing a toilet with her toothbrush after she kissed fellow contestant Michael Goonan. The incident led to the couple’s early exit from the show.

Now focused on her spiritual growth, Vernon says her faith has brought her peace and renewed purpose.

“There isn’t enough space or even words to explain the transformative goodness of God. It’s absolutely by far been the best thing that has happened to me,” she shared.

“Letting go and being challenged hasn’t been easy—but I’ve come out better for it.”
