A 47-year-old Nigerian man, Morenikeji Adewole, accused of raping a 19-year-old woman near London’s Heaven nightclub, reportedly worked illegally in the UK under a false name, Southwark Crown Court heard.

Adewole, who was on a five-year tourist visa that didn’t permit employment, allegedly used the name “Olusola Julius Alabi” to get a job as a security guard.

He also allegedly gave police a false name upon his arrest, later admitting he used a fake ID to earn a living and support his partner.

The alleged incident occurred on November 1, 2024. The complainant, a Christian woman who claimed to be saving herself for marriage, was reportedly intoxicated when she encountered Adewole.

The court was told Adewole offered the woman water from his car, accompanied her to a nearby tunnel where they were seen on CCTV, and later took her to Adelphi Terrace where the alleged rape occurred.

While Adewole admits there was sexual activity, he denies penetration, claiming he stopped when the woman disclosed her real age as 19. The trial is ongoing.
