The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested a native doctor, Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, who was wanted by the police for alleged kidnapping and ritual murder.

Obieze was apprehended by officers of the Lagos State Border Patrol Command at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while trying to escape the country on a motorcycle.

The arrest was confirmed by the NIS spokesperson, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, who said Obieze had attempted to flee following his alleged involvement in the abduction of a 13-year-old girl from Umuojor village in Isiagu, Enugu State.

The girl was reportedly kidnapped by three men on May 27, 2025, while walking with her father to their farm and was later rescued from a shrine linked to the suspect.

Obieze’s identity was verified via a National Identity Management Commission slip found on him.

He has since confessed during initial questioning and is currently in custody.

The NIS is now working with the Nigeria Police to facilitate the handover for further investigation, reaffirming its dedication to border security.
