The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has announced it has launched an investigation into a confession of a popular singer, Speed Darlington, that he disvirgined a 15-year-old girl in a hotel room.

The singer has been trending since he made the open confession in a Tiktok live, claiming that he could not work in a hotel because of the dirty things the staff have to deal with in the course of their duty.

He said he was recently in a hotel room where he slept with a 15-year-old girl, and at the end of the exercise, the entire bed sheet was stained with blood.

Darlington said he could never imagine himself being in a situation to wash the bedsheet.

He also added that he gave the girl N2,000 naira after their encounter.

Many netizens reacted to the disclosure with outrage, calling for the arrest of the singer.

Some X users tagged the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), which said the incident might be outside their jurisdiction, as they only covered Lagos.

They referred the case to NAPTIM, which has now acknowledged that it is working on it.

@naptipnigeria tweeted today:

“The NAPTIP Cybercrime Response Team has commenced investigations into the disturbing Instagram live video and other videos made by the same individual. We at NAPTIP are committed to a world where children are safe and free from all forms of violence.”

The statement released by DSVA earlier reads:

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.

In view of the above, and in line with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the situation to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

DSVA was alerted to the incident by an X user @calissii, who wrote,

“#speeddarlington was on Instagram live narrating in Igbo how he can’t imagine working in a hotel, as he recently slept with a 15yr old girl at a certain hotel and she messed up the sheets with blood cos she was a virgin so he had to give her 2K.”
