Authorities in Gauteng, South Africa, have launched a manhunt for a man identified only as “John” following the tragic death of Olorato Mongale, who was found dead just two hours after going on a date with the suspect.
Police say Mongale was last seen alive after being picked up by the unidentified man, who drove a white Volkswagen Polo bearing a cloned license plate — LT57JGGP — a number originally registered to a Toyota Hilux.
Her body was later discovered in Lombardy West, Johannesburg.
Police have confirmed they are treating the case as a homicide and suspect foul play.
The use of a cloned plate has made tracking the vehicle and suspect more difficult, according to investigators.
The police are now calling on the public for any information that could help identify or locate the man known as “John.”
Authorities are particularly interested in anyone who may have seen the white VW Polo with the suspicious license plate or has information about the suspect’s whereabouts.
The investigation remains ongoing.
