Nnedi Okorafor, the acclaimed Nigerian-American author known for her award-winning works, has sparked conversation online by calling for a dress code to be enforced at gyms.
In a recent Facebook post, Okorafor expressed frustration over the revealing attire worn by some gym-goers, stating that such clothing often leaves little to the imagination and is intentionally designed to highlight their curves.
“There needs to be a dress code at the gym. I don’t even care who gets offended by me saying this anymore,” she wrote.
She continued: “And the whole ‘look somewhere else’ excuse is bullshit when someone’s gigantic ass in barely any clothes (flimsy clothes made to accentuate it) is jiggling in your face when you happen to look up to take a breath. It’s awful!!! No modesty.”
Her remarks have stirred reactions across social media, with some agreeing with her stance and others criticising it as tone-deaf or overly conservative.
