UK-based Nigerian woman explains why she accepted ex-husband’s N7.9m without adding him to her visa application

A UK-based Nigerian woman has explained why she refused to add an ex-husband to her visa application plan despite collecting N7.9 million naira from him.
The lady’s explanation was shared by another Nigerian based in the UK, Uloma Nwogu.
According to Nwogu, the lady explained that her husband had abandoned her and her children for six years, leaving her to fend for them with her meagre income.
Luck smiled on the lady about two years ago when she was able to relocate to the United Kingdom.
This year, her runaway husband reached out to her on Facebook to initiate discussions after realising she had relocated.
He said he offered to pay back the money she had spent on the children’s school fees in the previous years he had been absent from their lives, and she gave him a bill of N7.9 million, which he promptly paid.
She said she later realised what the man was looking for when he proposed that she should come to Nigeria for a court wedding so he could relocate to the UK to be with his family.
Once she realised the man came back to her only for the reason of using her to relocate out of Nigeria, she stopped communicating with him.
This, she said, infuriated him, and he instigated the police to arrest her family in Nigeria, accusing her of defrauding him of N7.9 million for a UK visa.

“I came to the UK alone with children, I have been taking care of them alone for 6 years. I managed to Japa 2 years ago and the journey nearly destroyed me. I even developed BP in the process of single motherhood in this country.
Fast forward January this year, my children’s father showed up in my Facebook inbox and wanting to talk to me. After several calls, I gave him a listening ear. He said he wants to be in the children’s life and offered me money to add him to my visa. But he will pay me back the Childrens school fees in the last 6years.
I calculated N7.9M and he paid in 30minutes. I cried so much because I used to beg this man to pay his children’s school fees and he will block me.
He started calling to speak to the children. Just one month after he started demanding I return to Nigeria for court marriage because it’s only traditional marriage we did, so that he can apply for visa, I blocked him.
He went to arrest my mother and father, claiming they must provide me, that he paid me for visa and I scammed him.
My brothers and sisters are dealing with him now: He should bring proof where I charged him for visa.”
The story has since gone viral, with many commending the lady for playing smarter than the man.
Others, however, said she should have given him a second chance as he might have truly realised his folly.
