Father of late UTME candidate demands release of daughter’s “true” JAMB result

Femi Opesusi, the grieving father of 19-year-old Timilehin Opesusi who tragically took her own life after receiving her 2025 UTME result, has called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to release what he believes is her actual examination score.
Speaking in an emotional interview with Channels Television, Mr. Opesusi accused JAMB of allegedly hiding or altering his daughter’s result. He insisted the score she received—146—did not reflect her true ability.
Timilehin, who had been staying with her elder sister in Ikorodu, Lagos, was among over 300,000 students affected by a technical glitch during this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
While she had previously scored 190 in the 2024 UTME, the sharp drop in her 2025 result left her deeply distressed.
“She kept saying, ‘Daddy, this is not my result,’” Mr. Opesusi said, recalling his daughter’s anguish.

Despite his reassurances that the matter could be resolved, tragedy struck later that day when Timilehin took her own life.
Mr. Opesusi, still in shock, said he has received no communication from JAMB regarding the incident.
“They’ve never called me, never granted me an interview, never said anything to me. I don’t want to see them. What I want is the actual result of my daughter,” he said firmly.
He emphasised that he is not demanding compensation or an apology—only the truth about his daughter’s UTME performance.
