Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has opened up about her personal journey with love, heartbreak, and the realities of being admired for her beauty.
In a candid reflection, Adunni shared that while her looks once attracted attention and opened many doors, they didn’t guarantee lasting love or a meaningful relationship.
“I used to be the centre of attention, the most admired, the most talked about in my youthful days. Beauty opened many doors. I was loved, I was desired,” she said. “But guess what? I’m still not married.”
Speaking with Vanguard, the actress clarified that her single status isn’t due to a lack of value but a realisation that beauty alone isn’t enough to hold a relationship together.
“Some came for the face, not the soul. Some wanted the shine, not the substance,” she noted. “I learned the hard way that a woman must be more than just beautiful.”
Adunni used her experience to encourage women to prioritize personal development over physical appearance.
“Build your mind, know your worth, have values, be whole on your own. Marriage will come when it is right, but don’t think beauty is all you need,” she advised.
Known for her grace and commanding screen presence, Adunni concluded with a powerful message: “Life demands more than looks. Work on yourself, grow, be the kind of woman that doesn’t just turn heads — because in the end, beauty fades, but character stays.”
