Members of the Anambra Umuada, a cultural group comprising first daughters, were stopped from confronting a woman whose s3x tape with a married man recently surfaced online.
It would be recalled that a raunchy video showing a woman, later identified as Chinaza Odinaka, trended a couple of days ago.
In the very explicit video, the lady engaged in all manner of intimacy with a man said to be married with children.
Chinaza and her lover made no attempt to cover their faces and even smiled for the camera a few times.
It is not clear how the video leaked and became a household item in Anambra until it got to community members, some of whom thought it was an affront to one of their own who is married to the man in the viral video.
The Umuada of the community then mobilised themselves and stormed the neighbouring community where Chinaza resided and does her business with the intention of publicly shaming her.
The group made it to the market where Chinaza has her shop but were stopped from getting to her shop.
A video circulating on Facebook shows the Umuada brandishing symbolic items, an apparent traditional gesture of protest or public shaming.
Residents of Chinaza’s village can be seen engaging them in discussion.
The villagers argued that the Umuada, being from a different community, had no authority to enforce such sanctions without adhering to proper traditional protocols.
They were advised to formally notify the village leadership of their grievances, after which the matter would be reviewed and a decision officially communicated.
Online, many commenters who are from the east condemned the action of the Umuada, arguing that they should talk to their son, who strayed from his wife and community to have an affair with another woman.
Some others also noted that Umuada’s time of enforcing morality had passed, as the law now allows adults to do what they like with each other so long as it is not forced.
