A Nigerian man residing in the United States has recounted an alleged incident of police harassment during a recent visit to Nigeria, claiming he was targeted because of his dreadlocks.

In a video shared online, the man explained that he was stopped by police officers who searched both his personal belongings and vehicle, despite not finding any illegal items.

He said the officers insisted on taking him to the station, citing his hairstyle as a reason for suspicion.

According to him, the situation escalated when he refused to pay a bribe, and the officers reportedly attempted to delay and pressure him into handing over money.

He noted that it was only after he contacted the U.S. embassy that the officers backed down and allowed him to leave.

The incident has sparked conversation on social media about profiling, abuse of power, and the treatment of citizens with unconventional appearances by law enforcement in Nigeria.
