Delta man kills younger brother for slapping his wife in Delta State

A man identified simply as Paul has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his younger brother, Saturday, to death following a domestic dispute in Ugbokodo, Okpe Local Government Area.

The tragic incident, confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, occurred Thursday evening and reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over a missing ₦2,000.

According to reports, the suspect’s wife had accused the deceased of stealing the money.

A heated argument ensued during which the woman seized the younger brother’s shirt.

In retaliation, he allegedly slapped her, prompting neighbours to intervene and separate the pair.

Later, the woman contacted her husband, known locally as “Papa Jeffery.”

Enraged, Paul reportedly stormed the scene with one of his sons. They tracked Saturday to the Ugbokodo waterside and allegedly beat and stabbed him multiple times, resulting in his death.

The killing sparked outrage in the community. In retaliation, angry youths set fire to Paul’s residence and his wife’s shop. It took the prompt intervention of police officers and soldiers to prevent further escalation.

The police have confirmed that Paul is in custody as investigations continue into the incident that has shaken the Ugbokodo community.
