UK-based job seeker recounts disturbing question Nigerian panelist asked him during interview

A Nigerian job applicant, Engr. Tor Jar, who is based in the United Kingdom, has shared a depressing experience from a recent interview he had for a job.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the candidate described how a fellow Nigerian on the interview panel made an unsettling remark during a Microsoft Teams session.
According to the post on ‘Nigerians in the UK’ X platform, the panelist said:
“I hope you’re not one of those Nigerians who attend a one-month bootcamp, fabricate job experience on their CVs, and then underperform once hired. We’ll be verifying all the companies on your CV if you’re successful—are you sure you’re safe?”
The applicant, who stated that all his credentials are legitimate, said he was disheartened by the question, especially since it was posed in front of non-Nigerian colleagues.
He expressed concern over the damage such a statement could do to perceptions of Nigerian professionals.
The post quickly gained traction online, with many Nigerians criticising the panellist for reinforcing negative stereotypes in an international setting.
