A viral video has shown the moment neighbours rushed a newborn to the hospital after his mother allegedly st@bbed him.
The motive is not known, but it was speculated that the baby was unwanted by the mother and she tried to get rid of him.
Neighbours were attracted by the cries of the newborn baby and rescued him for onward transportation to a hospital.
The video of the incident which reportedly happened in the East, shows a mammoth crowd in the neighbourhood as a woman carried the baby accompanied by a man as they looked for a hospital.
Two women were seen later following the woman who carried the baby. Someone in the background suggested that one of the two women was the mother, while the other woman was a policewoman summoned to take the mother to their station for interrogation.
The status of the baby is not known at the time of filing this report.
