Nigerian woman sparks outrage after calling her white husband ‘Lord’, who helped her escape poverty

A Nigerian woman, Uzoma Mascot, has triggered controversy on social media after posting a video celebrating her Caucasian husband in a manner that many have found demeaning to black men.
In the now-viral video shared on Facebook, Uzoma is seen spreading her wrapper on the floor for her white husband to walk on as she welcomes him home.
Captioning the video, she wrote: “Clear road make I worship and adore my Lord, the only reason I escaped poverty.”
Uzoma further emphasised her devotion by stating, “Let me worship my Lord, the only reason I escaped poverty.” She went on to add, “I have made my choice, he is my Lord. Feel free to make yours.”
Her comments, particularly the claim that she “would never do such” if she had married a black man, have drawn mixed reactions online.
While some praised her expression of love, many condemned her for disparaging black men in the process of exalting her white husband.
The video has since sparked widespread debate over race, relationships, and self-worth, with critics accusing Uzoma of perpetuating harmful stereotypes and glorifying material substance over dignity.
