A man identified as Esosa Imasuen has been accused of fatally beating his wife, Chinwendu Nnadozie, following a domestic dispute in Benin City, Edo State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Oza Street in the Ogbelaka area along Sakponba Road.
The couple allegedly had a misunderstanding that led to Esosa severely assaulting his wife, a mother of three, leaving her with critical injuries.
Chinwendu was rushed to the hospital where a medical examination reportedly revealed she had suffered internal bleeding due to the beating. Tragically, she died before her family could reach her.
Speaking to reporters, the deceased’s father, Everistus Nnadozie, said he was informed that his daughter had been attacked by her husband and later taken to the hospital.
“They said he took her to the hospital where a doctor carried out tests and confirmed she had internal bleeding,” Nnadozie said.
He added that by the time he arrived, his daughter had passed away, and Imasuen had already taken her remains to an unknown mortuary without informing the family.
“I went to his house, but they told me he had absconded,” the grieving father stated, adding that efforts to reach the suspect and locate his daughter’s body have so far been unsuccessful.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the case.
