The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected ritualist, Samuel Adewunmi, popularly known as “Ifa Science,” for allegedly mutilating the head of a two-month-old baby for ritual purposes.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, May 20, 2025.
According to the statement, the baby’s father, Kola Taiwo, noticed a suspicious wound on the back of his infant’s head and immediately raised an alarm, prompting security operatives to apprehend the suspect.
“On May 1, 2025, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, arrested one suspected ritualist, Samuel Adebisi Adewunmi (aka Ifa Science), for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a two-month-old baby,” Ogbonnaya said.
He added that the suspect is currently being investigated by the command’s Intelligence and Investigations Department.
Ogbonnaya emphasised that the crime violates the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State and that the Corps is committed to ensuring justice is served.
Reacting to the incident, NSCDC State Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo urged parents to remain vigilant and aware of their children’s surroundings.
“The corps will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anyone who causes harm, danger, or mayhem to others,” she warned.
