
A 12-year-old student was discovered with a firearm inside his backpack at a Brooklyn middle school on the morning of Monday, May 19, according to police and law enforcement sources.
The weapon was found at Middle School 577, also known as Conselyea Preparatory School, located in Williamsburg.
Authorities said the incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m.
It remains unclear whether the gun was loaded at the time it was recovered.
The boy has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property, officials confirmed.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the school, situated on North Fifth Street, continued operations under heightened security.
