Tragedy struck in Asa Umudim, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, as a man allegedly set his wife and three children ablaze over suspicions of infidelity, leading to the death of one of his daughters and leaving his wife and two other children critically injured in the hospital.

The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Sources in the community revealed that the suspect accused his wife of frequently receiving calls from men he believed to be her lovers — a suspicion reportedly sparked by her phone ringing often.

According to eyewitness accounts, the man poured a flammable substance on his family before setting the house on fire.

While the police have not released a full official report, the violent act has shocked the entire community, prompting widespread grief and outrage.

Angry residents nearly lynched the suspect before police officers intervened and took him into custody.

Abia State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are currently underway.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased daughter have been deposited in a mortuary.

A disturbing video of the aftermath has surfaced online, intensifying public outrage.
