Members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Ogun State Chapter, have extended a warm welcome to athletes, officials, and tourists attending the 22nd National Sports Festival, also known as the 2024 Gateway Games, being hosted for 15 days by Ogun State.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Chris Omotosho, the association encouraged visitors to explore Ogun’s rich cultural heritage, enjoy its diverse cuisines, and visit notable tourist attractions such as Olumo Rock, Ake Palace Museum, the Cultural Centre, Golf Club, and the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, among others.

Dr. Omotosho described the National Sports Festival as a vital platform for strengthening national unity and expressed optimism that the event would fulfill that objective.

He added, “Make sure you take a piece of Ogun State with you by purchasing mementoes like local adire fabric, visual arts, and traditional snacks such as ‘kokoro’ made from maize, ‘adun’, and ‘robo’ made from melon, among many others.”

He also applauded the Ogun State Government for its development of world-class sporting facilities for the Games and for implementing sound maintenance strategies to ensure their longevity.

The ANA Chairman encouraged writers, poets, essayists, and novelists to take advantage of the unique opportunity the festival presents for generating creative content and promoting their works. He also called on the broader creative industry to support the Games.
