Chris Anaelechi Obasi, former general manager of MultiChoice Nigeria and current managing director of Zeta-Web Nigeria, has reportedly been abducted from his home in Graceland Estate, Ajah, Lagos.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. According to TheCable, Obasi was allegedly lured outside his residence by someone he knew before being seized by gunmen suspected to be security operatives.

His sister, Ada Francis, said a neighbour overheard the abductors mention “Tiger Base, Owerri” during the operation. The estate’s security guards also claimed the men who took Obasi displayed identity cards purportedly linked to the Tiger Base — a police unit in Imo State reputed for tackling robbery and kidnapping.

Obasi’s whereabouts remain unknown as family members scramble for answers. Some relatives have reportedly travelled to Owerri in search of information.

The abduction comes amid a tense kingship dispute in Eziama community, Ikeduru LGA, Imo State. Obasi is said to be next in line to the throne following the death of his father, Eze C.A. Obasi Oparaugo, the Ekwueme Orji I of Eziama. A court ruling on the matter is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2025.

As of the time of reporting, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, has not issued a statement on the incident.
