Heroic man rescues baby from balcony of burning multi-storey baking school in Lekki (Videos)
Proprietress narrates how it happened.

A dramatic scene unfolded in Lagos as a man saved a baby through the second-floor balcony of a multi-story baking school in Lekki, Lagos, while a fire raged through the building.
The fire incident happened at The Academy by Lizzie’s Cakes on Daniel Street, Sangotedo, Eti Osa, Lagos, Nigeria.
According to the owner of the academy, Lizzy Okon, an award-winning baker, the fire started from an air conditioner unit on the second floor of the three-story building.
Okon said a sofa was directly below the AC and ignited when sparks from the burning AC fell on it.
Okon said she, her staff and students were trapped upstairs as the fire raged through the staircase after ravaging a part of the hostel for the students.
The child seen in the viral video belonged to a student who came to Nigeria from Burkina Faso for the first time to learn how to make luxury cakes at the academy.
Okon said that through divine intervention, the baby was not in her court when the incident happened, and she was safely evacuated to the balcony of the upper floor from where a baker carried her over the balcony onto a ladder and took her to safety downstairs.
Okon said firefighters were alerted, and they arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.
She expressed gratitude that the fire did not get to the part of the student hostel where valuables such as international passports of their foreign students were kept.
