Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has received a glimmer of hope as her 41-year-old daughter, Adeola, who had been missing for four years, has been located in Mali.
The revelation came through fellow actress Biola Bayo, who shared the update on her Instagram page.
According to Bayo, Adeola is alive and currently receiving medical attention in a hospital in Mali.
However, she has yet to make direct contact with her mother, which has left George anxious.
When Bayo asked if she would like to be assisted to return to Nigeria, she said she did not have the necessary papers to travel as she had lost her passport.
Secondly, she complained that she had no money to travel with.
When encouraged to call her mother so she could be assured that she was okay, Adeola said she did not want to contact her just yet because she would be anxious about the precarious situation she had found herself in, in Mali.
“She will just be crying on me” she lamented.
Adeola left her two children in Ibadan to seek greener pastures in Mali and subsequently stopped communicating with her mother.
She said she lost her SIM, which had the numbers of all her contacts, including her mother.
Efforts to reach Adeola have been unsuccessful, as she has not been responding to calls.
The search for Adeola was facilitated by the Child Rights Campaign (CRC), which traced her to Mali.
Reports indicate that she had left Nigeria in pursuit of better opportunities. In a voice call shared by Bayo, Adeola explained that she became stranded in Mali after losing her phone during a conflict involving the military and Boko Haram insurgents.
Without travel documents or means to return home, she has remained in the country.
Meanwhile, Jumoke George is currently hospitalised in Lagos, undergoing medical tests.
The news of her daughter’s whereabouts has brought some relief, and supporters have expressed gratitude for the positive development.
