Kidnappers seize ransom bearers, demand additional N30m for release of Ondo APC Chairman

The abductors of Nelson Adepoyigi, the Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, have seized two individuals who delivered a ₦5 million ransom intended for his release.
The kidnappers are now demanding an additional ₦30 million for the release of all three captives.
Adepoyigi was kidnapped around 10:00 p.m. on Monday outside his residence in Ifon.
The assailants reportedly assaulted him before forcibly taking him away.
Initially, the abductors demanded a ransom of ₦100 million, which was later negotiated down to ₦5 million along with food items.
However, after receiving the payment, they reneged on the agreement and detained the two ransom bearers, identified as Bayode Loco and Isimeri.
The kidnappers are now demanding ₦30 million for the safe return of all three individuals.
The incident has plunged Adepoyigi’s family and the local political community into turmoil.
Kolapo Oja, Chairman of Ose Local Government Council, confirmed the development and expressed concern over the turn of events.
He appealed for calm and assured that security operatives are intensifying efforts to rescue the victims unharmed.
The Ondo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, collaborating with local vigilante groups and the Nigerian Army.
Police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the abduction and urged anyone with information to assist in the rescue operation.
