The media community in Ogun State is mourning the unexpected loss of Mrs. Bukola Agbakaizu, a seasoned broadcast journalist with Ogun State Television (OGTV), who collapsed and died while preparing for her afternoon shift on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Her death was confirmed by Mr. Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, who described her as a committed and energetic professional whose contributions to the media industry will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Agbakaizu, aged 52, was a former Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel and an ex-officio member of the current Wale Olanrewaju-led executive.
She is survived by two children and her aged mother.
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter, also expressed deep sorrow over her death.
In a condolence message signed by its chairperson, Mrs. Sekinat Salam, the association praised Agbakaizu for her outstanding professionalism and personal virtues.
