Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila of Mexico’s Baja California state has confirmed that the United States has revoked tourist visas for both her and her husband, Carlos Torres.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Ávila expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved, saying, “I fully trust that the situation will be satisfactorily clarified for both of us.”

The Baja California press office later confirmed the visa revocation to CNN.

The US Embassy declined to provide details, citing confidentiality laws surrounding visa matters.

Carlos Torres, a prominent member of Mexico’s ruling Morena party, described the decision as part of a broader administrative practice by the US State Department that has affected others in similar positions.

He revealed he has contacted an international immigration attorney to explore the possibility of appealing the decision or applying for a new visa.

Torres emphasized his intent to handle the matter transparently, stating, “I make this information public…to avoid speculation and prevent political opponents from misusing the situation.”

In support of her husband, Governor Ávila described him as a man of integrity and deep commitment to public service.

She also acknowledged the complexity of the current bi-national climate and called for prudence and calm.
