The Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge has commissioned a newly renovated block of two classrooms and donated 40 units of learners’ furniture to the Community Primary School in Imedun Nla, Mowe, Ogun State.

Speaking at the event, the President of the club, Rotarian Dr. Funke Ayeni, described the occasion as the fulfilment of a vision born out of a desire to uplift the standard of education and provide a conducive learning environment for children in the community.

“Rotary is about Service Above Self,” she said. “It’s about touching lives, creating change, and building stronger communities. This project wasn’t just about repairing a structure; it was about restoring hope and reminding our children that their future matters.”

Dr. Ayeni recounted that the initiative began following a needs assessment carried out at the school in 2023, where it was discovered that the classrooms were in a deplorable state, with leaking roofs and overcrowded seating.

She emphasised that the project aimed not only to improve the physical space but also to enhance the morale and motivation of the students.

The newly commissioned classrooms, now fully refurbished, stand as a testament to the power of collective effort and community-driven service.

The President expressed her gratitude to key supporters and partners who made the project possible.

She gave special thanks to Rtn Boye Adeboye Ayewamide, who fulfilled his pledge after receiving the project proposal in early 2024.

She also lauded the continued support of the Stavanger International Rotary Club (SIRC) of Norway for partnering with Arepo Rotary for the second consecutive year.

Another notable contributor was Dr. Ajayi Olalekan, COO of Highlands Oncology, Arkansas, USA, who pledged his support during Dr. Ayeni’s investiture and delivered on that promise.

The Rotary District Governor was also recognised for approving a N2 million district grant that contributed significantly to the project’s completion.

“To my crew—my project committee and every member of Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge—you’ve done it again,” she added with pride.

Reflecting on the Rotary International theme for the year, “The Magic of Rotary,” Dr. Ayeni said she now understands its deeper meaning.

“It truly feels like magic seeing this project completed without placing financial burdens on members.”

The president ended her speech with words of encouragement to the students: “Dream big, study hard, and never forget that you are the leaders of tomorrow.”

She also urged the school to take proper care of the facility to ensure it serves generations of learners to come.

The commissioning marks yet another milestone in the Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge’s ongoing commitment to impactful community service.
